The steps for using AVS4You Video Converter are easy:

  • Choose your preferred output file format
  • Open your input file using the Browse button on the top toolbar
  • Click Convert and let it run.

To create video to play back on your computer:

  • Choose your output format: To AVI, To MPEG or To MOV
  • For AVI output, click AVI Profile to select the codec that AVS Video Converter will use to compress the video file. For best quality and smallest file size, choose DivX or Xvid.
  • For MPEG output, click MPEG Profile to select the codec that AVS Video Converter will use to compress the video file. For best quality and smallest file size, choose MPEG-1, which gives VHS video quality. MPEG-2 gives DVD quality but a large file size.
  • For MOV output, click MOV Profile and select the codec that AVS Video Converter will use to compress the video file.

To create video to upload to an Internet website or for streaming through a local network or Intranet:

  • Choose your output format: To WMV, To RM or To Flash . WMV, RM and Flash formats create small video files suitable for Internet uploading. The quality is not high, although this depends on the viewer’s Internet connection speed.
  • For WMV, click WMV Profile/Real Media Profile/Flash Profile to select the preset to create a file suitable for a definite Internet connection speed.
  • Note: only RealPlayer can play RM files, while WMV file can be played by Windows Media Player and many other players. To play back created Flash files you will need the Macromedia Shockwave Flash Player installed.

To create video for a mobile device, such as a Sony PSP, iPod or a mobile phone:

  • Choose your output format: To MP4 or To 3GP
  • For MP4, click MP4 Profile to select the codec that will be used to compress the video file. You can select MPEG-4 codec and file type for different mobile devices: mobile phone, Sony PSP, iPod and other MP4 devices.
  • For MP3, click 3GP Profile to select the codec that will be used to compress the video file. MPEG-4 is recommended for use at higher bit rates because it sharpens the image. At lower bit rates the H.263 codec is preferred.

To create a video disc for home DVD players:

  • Choose your output format: To DVD. Make sure that your DVD player supports the disc type you want to use (DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD+R DL, DVD-R DL).
  • DVD gives the best quality of the video, but requires DVD discs. Your computer will need to have a DVD burner installed to actually burn the DVD to a disc.
  • The conversion to DVD may take several hours depending on your computer. When it’s done converting, the program will automatically burn the converted video on a disc.

To rip a DVD to another format or to another DVD

  • Insert the DVD disc into your computer DVD drive and select VIDEO_TS.IFO file.
  • Choose your preferred the output file format
  • Click convert now
  • You can also use AVS Video to Go for ripping DVDs.
